Seahealth: New mandatory movie
MARITIME SERVICE: The educational material "Chemicals. Take care of yourself and others - from knowledge to practice” is a film and an instructional handbook - in both Danish and English – for supervisors.
The film should be seen by all who work with chemicals on board. The handbook is a repository of knowledge and glossary to the supervisor to get inspired before training and instructing the work situation with hazardous chemicals.
The training material is mandatory as required by regulations from the Danish Maritime Authorities, which is "Meddelelser A, Chapter II A, Rule 6.3 and Chapter II B, Rule 5.5" on "education" when working with hazardous chemicals on board and replace the previous film "Good chemistry on board" and "good chemistry on board 2 ". The material is approved by the Danish Maritime Authority.
If there already is procedures in the ISM/SMS, on how documentation is done when all who work with chemicals on board has seen the film, there must be done a correction, because new materials replace old.
If there is not procedures for compliance and documentation, we encourage to enclose this in ISM/SMS.
The new material is being sent to all Danish ships via Weilbach. The ships will only have to pay distribution costs. It is possible to buy extra copies at Weilbach, if needed.
The film and handbook are also a good supplement to the IT program Health and Safety at Sea. The film provides among other things, a general introduction to what you should look for in the workplace instructions before you use PPE and start painting or use other chemicals.
