JOB2SEA now expanding overseas
After a successful launch in the Danish market, the maritime job portal JOB2SEA is now ready to expand overseas. The first big move is at the large international shipping fair Nor-Shipping in Oslo later this month.
”Our goal is to cover all nations and their maritime industries. Today we already have clients from all over the world and the international clients are showing increased interest . That’s why Nor-Shipping is an excellent platform for us, to announce JOB2SEA in the Norwegian market”, explains Jakob le Fevre, general manager of JOB2SEA.
In the last six months, the job portal has gone from having 1.400 to 12.000 visitors a month. The database is already boasting over 700 unique job profiles, and at the moment there are typically a hundred available positions to choose from.
”The maritime business has previously been known for focusing on nationality. That is changing. Today you want employees that are highly qualified – both for the ships and the offices. The maritime job market has traditionally been fragmented and managed by hundreds of smaller online platforms with only very limited options for job seekers and companiess to select positions and qualifications. Job2sea.com is changing that,” says Jakob le Fevre.
According to le Fevre, there’s a clear development towards niche portals.
Jobs.brandrepublic.com in UK is targeting marketing profiles only, Jobs.gponline.com is only for profiles working in the healthcare business and there are thousands of similar examples. The maritime world has so far been sailing solo via HR departments and smaller semi-online services.
”This is what we have set out to change – we’re focusing a hundred percent on the maritime business and a solid online service that enables users to qualify the search part online,” says Jakob le Fevre, who has been
in charge of the Danish CV matching and job portal since September last year.
JOB2SEA is a free service for job applicants, and businesses can choose to use the portal on an ad hoc basis, or through a VIP partnership. The benefit using job2sea.com is clear. Types of qualifications, licenses, experience etc. Are all geared towards the maritime sector and the match options between candidates and position are unparalleled in the sector.
The portal was launched in 2005 as a member’s service for members of ‘Danish Maritime Officers’. Online activity grew steadily up until 2009, where it was decided to establish JOB2SEA as an independent limited liability company.
Today ‘Danish Maritime Officers’ holds 70 percent of ownership, and 15 percent is owned by Marianne Steen, a specialist in online recruitment, and 15 percent by Essencius – an established communications- and PR agency.
