Dong puts offshore wind farm on stand-by
OFFSHORE: Dong Energy has decided to postpone the construction of the offshore wind farm Borkum Riff Plot 2. The farm will be located off the German coast in the North Sea. Delays are due to grid related issues.
"We have been forced to postpone the development and construction of the project Borkum Riff Basic II”, says Christoph Mertens, Director of DONG Germany, who is responsible for wind power.
The director told the news agency Reuters that the power supplier TenneT is unable to give a clear date for when the necessary power lines will be ready.
Half of the first part of the offshore wind farm, Borkum Riff Plot 1 is already sold to Lego's mother company Kirkbi and Oticon for DKK 4.7 billion.
Borkum Riff Basic 1 is currently being built in the North Sea and the park will supply CO2-free electricity to more than 285,000 households when it is finished.
