CPHSE launches new SKYBOX service
MARITIME SERVICE: November 1'st, Copenhagen Shipping Exchange launched their SKYBOX, a service that scans daily emails containing information about open vessel positions and available cargo - then presenting and suggesting the best possible deals
"The system is built to learn and will by example recognize and accept a given way of spelling when encountered a reasonable amount of times. If not, it will ask the user for the objective of the communication. By now, Skybox is able to decode close to three quarters of all emails tested, and the technology continues to improve through increased use", says Jonas Bruhn, one of the two founders.
In short the technology basically scans the vast amounts of emails for relevant information. The information is then sorted and presented to the user in a usable and applicable fashion suggesting the best possible deals whether this is for use by ship owners, charterers or brokers.
"We are quite certain, that ship owners, brokers and charterers alike quickly after their first use will discover the benefits of the technology. Skybox is nearly seamless in usage, intuitive and the payoff is close to instant. It takes just under a second to read out the information of one email. In theory this means, that we can have a thousand servers allowing us to read more than 60.000 emails every minute", says Stefan Avivson, the second founder.
"A returning question from some companies involved in the process of securing that Skybox is state of the art technology has been on the issue of third parties being able to monitor the email-communication of others. But I can assure anyone that our technology ensures, that any information going back and forth is encrypted according to the highest standards and is never viewable to others. But to meet the wishes of some of our future business partners, we are in the process of developing a decentralized setup, that allows users to keep their email-correspondence in-house", Stefan Avivson says.
The headquarters of Copenhagen Shipping Exchange is situated in Copenhagen, Denmark, but sales branches have already been established in the US as well as Asia.
The ownership of Copenhagen Shipping Exchange belongs to the co-founders Jonas Bruhn and Stefan Avivson together with a group of American investors out of Boston, who formerly have succeeded with companies engaged in the biotech industry.
As a reaffirmation of the co-owners believes in the potential of CPHSE | SKYBOX, it has been decided to offer anyone interested a trial period, free of charge, which runs till the end of December 2010.
For the particular business venture of creating an additional version of CPHSE | SKYBOX, Copenhagen Shipping Exchange has recently been granted financial backing from The Danish Maritime Foundation.
