DONG invests two billion in Fredericia
DONG Energy is now investing DKK 2 billion in a reconstruction of the oil terminal in Fredericia. The rebuilding means that the oil terminal in the future will be able to receive oil-containing gas.
"We rebuild the terminal simply to handle a new kind of oil flow. We distinguish between stable crude oil and oil containing lighter and LPG", says Lars Bach, who is responsible for the operation of the oil terminal, to the newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
The rebuilding will mean that the oil terminal in Fredericia will be able to receive gaseous oil including oil from the Brome-field in the Danish part of the North Sea. Here DONG Energy and Bayerngas started with a gigantic expansion that will cost more than DKK 9 billion.
"For many years companies have pumped separated gas products back into oil wells or used the gas as fuel for turbines and generators. Now they have the option of sending the gas to land along with the flow and get it removed, so the gas can be sold on the market", says Lars Bach.
It is expected that the conversion of the oil terminal in Fredericia will create 150-200 jobs, while the new oil facility on a permanent basis will create 20 permanent jobs for technicians and maintenance staff.
The Egret field is expected to create 500 new jobs when completed in 2015.
